🔥 Gündem Islamabad Police Crackdown and Recruitment Under Review

The Islamabad Police are actively engaged in a range of initiatives and operations aimed at enhancing security, combating crime, and modernizing their policing methods in the federal capital ³⁵. Recent reports highlight several key areas of focus and achievements.

Crime Reduction Efforts

The Islamabad Police have reported a significant decline in crime rates during the first half of 2026. Overall crime in the federal capital decreased by 61%, while heinous crimes saw a 39% reduction compared to the same period in 2025 ³. This drop is attributed to intelligence-led operations, relentless policing measures, and the expansion of the Safe City surveillance network, which now covers nearly the entire capital region ³⁹.

Operations Against Drug Trafficking

A major focus for the Islamabad Police is the crackdown on drug peddlers. Since January 1, 2026, up to July 22, 2026, the police have arrested 1,002 drug peddlers and registered 966 cases ⁴. These operations have led to the recovery of substantial quantities of illicit substances, including 1,380 grams of ice, 2,780 grams of hashish, and 2,800 grams of heroin ¹. Despite these efforts, drug dealers are reportedly moving their operations online in response to the police crackdown ²⁴. The police have also arrested 102 individuals involved in drug dealing near educational institutions ².

Modernization and Technology Adoption

Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has emphasized the need for technology-driven policing to curb crime effectively ⁵. Initiatives include:

• Safe City Project Expansion: The comprehensive expansion of the Safe City surveillance network is a key component of their strategy ⁹.
• International Training: Beijing police are set to train Islamabad officers in modern policing techniques and artificial intelligence ⁷.
• Online Women Police Station: Pakistan's first 'Online Women Police Station' is now operational in Islamabad, aiming to provide accessible services to women ⁷.

Community and Traffic Management

The Islamabad Police are also involved in managing traffic and addressing public concerns. There have been reports of public dissatisfaction regarding the treatment by Islamabad traffic police at certain main spots ⁸. Additionally, the government has banned smoke-emitting vehicles in Islamabad to combat air pollution, an initiative that the traffic police would likely enforce ⁷.

Ongoing Law Enforcement Activities

Beyond specific campaigns, the police continue to conduct regular operations to maintain law and order. For instance, in a recent operation, 24 outlaws were arrested, and various weapons including four pistols, one rifle, and one Kalashnikov, along with ammunition, were recovered ¹.
