🔥 Gündem Nigeria Public Holiday in August 2026: What You Need to Know

Nigeria is set to observe two public holidays in August 2026: Isese Day and Eid-el-Maulud ²³⁴.

Isese Day

Isese Day is scheduled for August 20, 2026 ³⁴. This holiday is primarily observed in four Southwestern states of Nigeria ⁴.

Eid-el-Maulud

Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, is tentatively set for August 26, 2026 ³⁴. While the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa lists August 26, 2026, as the Id el Maulud Public Holiday on its 2026 calendar, Nigerians are advised to await formal confirmation from the Federal Government before making definitive plans ⁵.

It is important to note that the Federal Government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as a public holiday for Eid ul Mawlid ⁷. However, other sources indicate August 26, 2026, as the tentative date for Eid-el-Maulud ³⁴⁵. This suggests a potential discrepancy or a need for official clarification from the Nigerian government regarding the exact date for the nationwide observance.

These two holidays will provide workers and residents in Nigeria with work-free days during August 2026 ².
