🔥 Gündem Niu Lai: The Animated Film That Became a Viral Box-Office Hit

Niu Lai is an animated film that gained significant attention, particularly in China, for its unique production style and reception. It was entirely handmade by its creator, Donnie Chun-Yu Lai, and his mother ². Lai, a Taiwanese film director and visual effects artist, holds a master's degree from the School of Film and New Media at Taipei National University of the Arts ⁴.

The film's plot has been described as confusing, and its animation quality as "laughable," which ironically contributed to its viral success and made it a box office hit in China ⁸. Despite its unconventional aesthetic, Niu Lai received no traditional promotional campaign, trailers, or interviews; its only advertisement was a single poster using traditional ink wash painting. Some theater staff even resorted to hand-drawing their own promotional posters due to the lack of official materials ³. The film is listed with a 2026 release year ⁷.
