🔥 Gündem Olivia Rodrigo Releases New Song 'Serena Joy': What You Need to Know

Olivia Rodrigo's unreleased song "serena joy" is an outtake from her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love ². The title directly references Serena Joy, a character from Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale ¹.

The song is described as a sharp, layered critique of complicity, particularly focusing on women who defend or enable systems that ultimately oppress them ⁴. This theme aligns with the character Serena Joy, who, despite being a woman, supports a patriarchal system that strips women of their rights ⁶³. Rodrigo herself shared that the song "really fit into that story arc" ¹.

Although it was not included on the album because it "didn't coagulate with the rest of the album well enough," Rodrigo has expressed her love for the song, and its potential release is still being considered ⁵. Official lyrics shared by fan accounts include lines like, "yeah it's all for the cause for the good of us and if you close your eyes then it can't be your fault" ⁷⁸. The song is anticipated to be released in 2026 ⁹.
