🔥 Gündem Rajshahi University Students Block Bangladesh Railway Demanding Action

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, students from Rajshahi University (RU) initiated a blockade of railway tracks, leading to the suspension of train services between Rajshahi and the rest of Bangladesh ¹³⁷⁸. The protest began around 7:00 AM near the university's Faculty of Fine Arts ⁴.

Reason for the Blockade

The students' protest stemmed from allegations that a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) assaulted a fellow student on the Padma Express train ³⁴⁷. The incident involved a law student from Rajshahi University ⁷.

Impact and Resolution

The blockade caused significant disruption to regional rail operations ². Train services remained suspended for approximately eight hours ⁶.

The students lifted the blockade on Tuesday afternoon after authorities addressed their grievances ²⁵. The key development that led to the resolution was the suspension of the accused TTE, Suman ⁵⁶. Railway authorities and the divisional commissioner agreed to take action regarding the alleged assault ².

Following the suspension of the TTE and assurances from the authorities, rail communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country returned to normal ⁵⁶.
