🔥 Gündem 'Satluj' Series Update: Zee 5 and Legal Battles

The web series 'Satluj', featuring Diljit Dosanjh, has been at the center of a significant controversy since its brief release on ZEE5 in early July 2026. The series, originally titled 'Punjab 95', was removed from the platform just two days after its premiere on July 3, 2026 ²⁷⁸. This removal reportedly stemmed from "security concerns" cited by the government ⁷.

The core of the controversy revolves around the series being streamed without prior certification from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) ¹³⁴. Officials indicate that the government is now considering taking action against ZEE5 for this uncertified release ¹⁴⁶. Furthermore, this incident has prompted the Modi government to contemplate making Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval mandatory for all content released on Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms ³⁴⁶. The 'Satluj Centre for River Studies' has also raised objections to the use of the title 'Satluj' for the film's streaming release ². Following its removal from ZEE5, the film has reportedly found new life through screenings in villages in Punjab ⁵.
