Spider-Man: Far From Home picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with Peter Parker (Spider-Man) struggling to cope with the loss of his mentor, Tony Stark. He embarks on a summer trip to Europe with his classmates, hoping to leave his superhero duties behind and confess his feelings for MJ. However, his plans are quickly derailed when Nick Fury recruits him to help Quentin Beck, also known as Mysterio, a hero from an alternate Earth. Mysterio claims to be fighting elemental creatures that have crossed over from his dimension. Together, they battle these powerful beings across various European cities.

As the story unfolds, Peter begins to see Mysterio as a potential successor to Iron Man, entrusting him with Stark's advanced augmented reality combat system, E.D.I.T.H. However, it's soon revealed that Mysterio is not who he seems. He is a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee who, along with a team of other ex-Stark employees, uses advanced holographic projection and drone technology to create the illusion of the Elementals and his heroic battles. His goal is to become the world's greatest superhero by manipulating public perception. Peter must then expose Mysterio's deception and defeat him, all while protecting his friends and coming to terms with his own responsibilities as Spider-Man. The film famously ends with a mid-credits scene where Mysterio posthumously frames Spider-Man for the drone attacks and reveals his secret identity to the world.
