The version by The Alaskan Sunnyside Sisters featuring Ben And Rose, available on platforms like YouTube ³⁴, typically features the traditional lyrics. The chorus, which is central to the hymn, repeats the phrase "When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there" ⁶.

The full lyrics generally include verses such as:

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,

And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;

When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,

And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Chorus:

When the roll is called up yonder,

When the roll is called up yonder,

When the roll is called up yonder,

I’ll be there.

The hymn continues with themes of gathering in heaven and eternal life, often featuring a repetitive and uplifting chorus ⁵⁸.
