🔥 Gündem Upcoming Partial Lunar Eclipse: What You Need to Know

The next partial lunar eclipse visible in Canada is scheduled for August 28, 2026 ¹.

This celestial event will be observable across various provinces and cities in Canada. For instance, residents of Ontario, including cities like Toronto and London, will be able to witness this partial lunar eclipse ²³⁷. Similarly, it will be visible in Montréal, Quebec ⁵.

Understanding a Partial Lunar Eclipse

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, but the alignment is not perfect. Only a portion of the Moon enters the Earth's umbra (the darkest part of its shadow), while the rest remains in the penumbra (the lighter outer part of the shadow). This results in a noticeable darkening or "bite" taken out of the Moon's disk, which can be observed with the naked eye.

Other Upcoming Eclipses in Canada

While the August 28, 2026, event is a partial lunar eclipse, Canada will also experience other types of eclipses in the near future:

• Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: February 20, 2027 ¹.
• Partial Solar Eclipse: August 2, 2027 ¹.
• Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: August 17, 2027 ¹.

It is important to note that a partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, will not be visible from most of Canada, though some areas might see a very small portion of it ³⁴. When observing solar eclipses, it is crucial to use proper eye protection to prevent serious eye injury or blindness ⁴.
